Niemann-Pick disease (NPC) is a slow-progressing disorder in which the primary hallmark is an accumulation of lipids in lysosomes. Symptoms are age-dependent. Clinical signs during infancy are limited to the viscera, with hepatosplenomegaly, jaundice, and (in some instances) pulmonary infiltrates.
